The 2024 Awards program judging begins March 1, 2024 and concludes April 7, 2024. Judging instructions, sign up form and contracts are sent to individual recipients after approved to judge.

If you or you know of someone who is  interested in judging one of the four programs, please read the information below and contact Awards@CatholicMediaAssociation.org for more information.

Judging the Catholic Media Awards

Qualifications for a Catholic Media Awards judge include:

  • Professional journalism experience
  • A background knowledge of Catholicism
  • Preference given to people fluent in Spanish (NOT REQUIRED QUALIFICATION) 
  • Judge CANNOT be a CMA member or an employee of a CMA member publication
  • must have a background in the category you would like to judge 

The judging period for the Catholic Media Awards takes place March 1, 2024 through April 7, 2024. New judges are typically assigned about 100 entries but you have the option to choose an amount.

Judging the CMA Book Awards

Qualifications for a CMA Book Awards judge include:

  • Knowledge of the publishing industry
  • Background knowledge of Catholicism
  • Background knowldedge of the category you would like to judge 
  • Judge CAN NOT be a CMA member or an employee of a CMA member publication

The judging period for the CMA Book Awards takes place March 1, 2024 through April 7, 2024. New judges are typically assigned about 10 entries (books) but you have the option to choose an amount.

Judging the CMA St. Juan Diego Collegiate Awards

Qualifications for a CMA St. Juan Diego Collegiate judge include:

  • Knowledge of the publishing industry
  • Background knowledge of Catholicism
  • Background knowldedge of the category you would like to judge 
  • Judge CAN be a CMA member or an employee of a CMA member publication

The judging period for this program takes place March 1, 2024 through April 7, 2024. New judges are typically assigned about 1 to 2 categories but you have the option to choose an amount.

Judging the CMA Gabriel Awards

Qualifications for a CMA Gabriel Awards judge include:

  • Knowledge of the media industry  
  • Background knowldedge of the category you would like to judge 
  • Judge CAN be a CMA member or an employee of a CMA member publication

The judging period for the Gabriel Awards takes place March 1, 2024 through april 7, 2024. New judges are typically assigned two to five categories but you have the option to choose an amount.
